UPDATE: Patricia Circle Park

In 2019, the surviving family of Laura Mae Billings, donated the empty lot on Patricia Circle to the Sky View Acres Neighborhood Association with the intention that the property be turned into a neighborhood park. The property had been owned by Laura and her then ex-husband, Marvin Billings (deceased), and it took the Neighborhood Association three years to clear the title in order to turn the property over to Bernalillo County.

The legal process to achieve this transfer was completed last week on September 29, 2023, and the property is now in the hands of the County, slated for future development as a park. We’ll keep the neighborhood advised of progress as the property moves through the County’s design and implementation process.

2022 Neighborhood Grant UPDATE

A quick update regarding our 2022 Bernalillo County Neighborhood Grant. Our grant for this year was for buying two commercial grade benches for the Sky View Park. The benches were purchased this summer and installation was completed recently by the Bernalillo County Parks & Recreation Department. Last night, Linda & Anna submitted our final budget and documentation reports to the County. This should finish up this year's grant process!

We're attending a preliminary meeting today for the 2023 Neighborhood Grant with thoughts of purchasing a printer to produce neighborhood newsletters and solar lighting for the park. We'll bring these ideas to the Board once the application process begins.

If you have ideas for the grant, please email Linda Davis at ldavis1662@msn.com. The grant is money give to neighborhoods by Bernalillo County for a community related project. Grants up to $2,500 are awarded annually. Our 2019 Grant paid for the purchase and installation of the neighborhood sign that currently sits in the park.

Dutch Brothers Coffee - Zoning Meeting Results.

First, a huge THANK YOU to all neighbors who spoke at today's Environmental Planning Commission meeting regarding the proposed Dutch Brothers Coffee. We were able to protect the interests of the immediate residential areas in the following ways:

1. Outside music playing ONLY from 10am - 5pm and city noise ordinances must be met

2. 6ft wall on the North and East side of the Dutch Brothers to curb trash and noise

3. 3ft wall on the West side of Dutch Brothers and East side of the second restaurant to curb trash and noise

4. More larger shade trees on the property, including ones to replace the elm trees on the north side. The north side elms will not be cut down until the new trees have matured. They are also mandated to keep some of the other existing mature trees on the property and tie them into the landscaping.

5. No lit signage on the north side of the Dutch Brothers building.

6. Traffic study to be completed
